From the 19th to 24th October, many archers associated with Canberra Archery Club travelled to Hobart to compete in the 2026 National Target and Para Championships! We’ve got lots to share with you from the event, and we’d like to extend a massive congratulations to all our archers for their amazing efforts! We would also like to thank all the judges, volunteers, and officials that make events like these possible. Our archers wouldn’t have had this opportunity if it weren’t for the hard work put in to organising the event.

Before we get into the details of the events, see below for a summary of the archers associated with CAC, and the events they competed in!

After a day of practice on Monday, the event kicked off with the 900 and 1440 rounds. On Tuesday, the recurve archers shot the 900 round and the compound, barebow, and longbow archers shot the 1440 round. On Wednesday, the recurve archers shot the 1440 and the compound, barebow, and longbow archers shot the 900. The para archers shot their 720 qualification round on Wednesday. On Thursday, all archers (except the paras) shot their 720 qualification round, followed by individual matchplay for all archers. On Friday, the teams matchplay events across all disciplines were shot. Finally, Saturday brought the gold medal matches for all the events throughout the week!

All the gold medal matches were broadcast, and you can watch them here: (23) National Target and Para Champs 2026 - YouTube

In the 720 and individual matchplay event, the 720 score is used to seed archers in the brackets for matchplay. The final rankings are decided based on matchplay performance, regardless of placement in the 720 qualification round. Here, we’ve included both the qualification rankings and the final matchplay rankings.

In mixed teams, two archers of opposite gender shooting the same bow type team and shoot in matchplay together. They are seeded in the matchplay brackets using the scores that they shot in the 720 qualification round.

In the category teams event, archers form a team of three people of the same gender and bow type as them (with the except of the para event, which is doubles), seeded again using the scores from the 720 qualification round.

That is an incredible 23 medals brought home from Hobart by CAC-associated archers! We are very proud of all the hard work put in by our archers to prepare, train, and compete in this event. Even where medals were not won, our archers gave a remarkable effort which we hope you will join us in celebrating!
